A statue of Gaishi Nagaoka(1856 - 1933) can be found in Gaishi Park on Kasado Island. A native of Kudamatsu, Gaishi was a member of the military and a politician who was known for being a pioneer of aviation and skiing in Japan. He had a long mustache that was around 70cm long that people called “propeller mustache.” The park shares an exceptional view the National Hotel Oojou looking over Kasado Bay.
