Ryugunohiofuki, or Dragon Palace Geyser, is the
phenomenon where seawater is shot up into the
air when approaching waves break into the 1m
tall, 20cm wide hole ne ar the surface of the
water. When high tides occur from northe rn
winds and rough seas, sea water can shoot up to
a height o f 30m. Thi s i s said to resemble a
dragon heading towards the heavens.
