Located on Oshima Peninsula at the southern end of Shunan City, Mt.Taika is designated as a special area of Setonaikai National Park. The isolated362-meter-high mountain on the peninsula projecting into the ocean boasts a magnificent 360-degree vista. From the peak, visitors can the view numerous islands on the Seto Inland Sea, Kunisaki Peninsula of Oita Prefecture, and on a sunny, clear day Sadamisaki Peninsula of Ehime Prefecture in the distance. After sunset, the illumination from the industrial complex and downtown Shunan below blends together and offers one of the most breathtaking night views in the country. The peak can be accessed through the staircase situated approximately. 300 meters away from here.
